Elgie Raymond Bateman, 57, of Burnwell, Fayette County, died yesterday in Charleston General Hospital after a long illness. Mr. Bateman was an employee of Imperial Collieries at Burnwell. He was a resident of that community for 25 years. Surviving are his wife, Grace; three sons, Theodore, Frank Lewis and Joseph Raymond Bateman of Burnwell; four daughters, the misses Betty and Lucille Bateman of Burnwell, Mrs. Patsy Adkins of Collinsdale and Mrs. Rosalie Cooper of Harris; and three sisters; six grandchildren. The body is at Coombs Mortuary in Montgomery.
