Mabel Cox

CASEY – Mabel Conal Cox, 79, of Casey died at 2:45 a.m. Tuesday (Sept. 3, 1991) at Heartland Manor in Casey.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church of Casey with the Rev. Tom Marsh officiating.  Burial will be in Washington Street Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Markwell and Sons Funeral Home.

She was born Jan. 18, 1912, in Oilfield, the daughter of George and Dessie Kemper Garrett.

Surviving are a son, Ronald Cox of Decatur; a daughter, Mrs. Dean (Mary Ann) Sherwood of Casey; two brothers, George Garrett of Mount Vernon, Ind., and Gehl Garrett of Winter Haven, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Esther Dodd of Robinson; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, four sisters and a grandson.

Mrs. Cox had been a clerk at Dulgar's Grocery Store and had worked at the Ettlebrick Shoe Co. and TRW and Cinch Manufacturing, all of Casey.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Casey.
