The remains of Lockland Smith were brought to this city Sunday evening and the funeral was held Monday afternoon from the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. H. Davis, Rev. Dudley of Shenandoah officiating. The remains were buried in the Villisca Cemetery beside those of his wife, who died 15 years ago. Mr. Smith passed away at the home of his daughter Mrs. Wiker, in Sidney, Nebraska, August 11, 1905, at the age of 83 years. Being away that old age was creeping on he made al his children a visit last year. He was a grand old man and had a number of warm friends in Villisca. Those from out of the city who attended the funeral were: Mrs. J. S. Kinsbury and son Paul of Reinbeck, Iowa; Mrs. J. H. Wiker of Sidney, Nebraska; E. J. Smith of Chicago; Mr. and MRs. J. L. Smith and daughter Florence of West Liberty, Iowa.
