Rita Baker
OTTUMWA – Rita Louise Baker, 53, of 120 N. Moore died at 11:40 p.m. March 5, 1996, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

She was born Aug. 29, 1942, in Ottumwa to Ernest and Betty Mace Harland. She married Vincel [sic] Baker Sr. in 1962 [sic]. He died in 1970.

A resident of Ottumwa most of her life, she was known to her many CB friends as "Momma Baker."

She is survived by her mother, Betty Mace McDavitt of Ottumwa; her companion, Thayne Mart; two daughters, Julie Barnes and Angela Baker of Ottumwa; a stepdaughter, Carolyn Ellis of Waynesville,, Mo.; a granddaughter raised at her home, Melissa Morrow; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; two brothers, Bud and David Harland of Ottumwa; and five sisters, Sally Amos, Peggy Davis, Linda Shirley, Jewel Frederick and Kathy Crane of Ottumwa.

She was preceded in death by her father and two sons, Bobby and Lee Baker.

The body has been cremated.

Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Friday at Shaul Cemetery, the Rev. Eugene Smith of Trinity Church of the Nazarene officiating.

Memorials may be made to the family in care of Betty McDavitt, 264 S. Moore, Ottumwa.
