Helen F. Parrish, age 93, of Durham N.C., died peacefully and went to be with her Lord on Monday, August 10, 2015. Helen was born in Elkton, Va., on May 10, 1922, to the late James William and Sallie Foltz Fielding.

After moving to Fluvanna County, she was married to Frank O. Parrish for 46 years prior to his death in 1989.

She was employed at E. W. Thomas Grocery in Palmyra for over 20 years before retiring.

She is survived by a daughter, Janet P. Seay and husband, Donald of Chesapeake, Virginia; son, Donald F. Parrish and wife, Gaynel of Durham, N.C.; four grandchildren, Andrew R. Seay of Pittsburgh, Pa., Adam P. Seay, of Chesapeake, Va., Beth Barden and husband, Glenn of Garner, N.C., and Jamison Crabtree and wife, Cheri also of Garner; three great-grandchildren, Tyler Goss, Griffin Barden, and Ayden Crabtree, all of Garner; and one sister, Lucy Eckenroth of Lewisville, N.C.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Helen's home church, Cunningham United Methodist in Palmyra on Saturday, August 22, 2015, from 2 until 4 p.m. The family is being assisted by Sheridan Funeral Home of Kents Store. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Cunningham United Methodist Church Capital Fund.
