Local woman To Be Buried Tuesday – Services at Home
Mrs. Catherine Dirksen, wife of Joseph G. Dirksen, died at her home, 1212 Ann Eliza street, Sunday morning at 1:10 o'clock. She had been in failing health for some time past. Funeral services will be held at the residence Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, with Rev. C.F. Smith of Grace Methodist church officiating and commitment in the mausoleum at Lakeside cemetery.
Mrs. Dirksen was a daughter of Harm and Gretje Bruns Smith and was born in Pason Germany, April 18, 1864. Her marriage which took place in Pekin, May 7, 1885 was to Joseph G. Dirksen, who with children, Mrs. Henry Johannes and Benjamin Dirksen, two brothers, Ben H. and Harm H. Smith, and two grandchildren, Kathleen and Robert Dean Johannes, all of Pekin are left to mourn her passing.
She was a member of the Grace M. E. church, a good Christian woman who enjoyed the acquaintance and friendship of many and who was highly esteemed by all who knew her.
