--Braxton H. Bearss, 85, of 21 Ridgeview, prominent Peru resident, died of a heart attack at 8 a.m. Saturday at the home of his sister, Miss Lucy Bearss, 385 N. Broadway.
--A retired stock breeder and farmer, he was born in Peru. He was elected as a joint senator from Miami county in 1938, serving a four year term.
--Born in Peru, Dec. 3, 1874, he was the son of Frank M. and Desdemona (Iddings) Bearss. He was married at Rushville, Dec. 16, 1933 to Kathryn Merrill O'Donnell(sic), who died Aug. 17, 1944.
--Surviving are a stepson, James P. O'Connell(sic), Logansport; two sisters, Miss Bearss and Mrs. G. O. Muhlfeld of Englewood, N. J.
--A brother, the late Brig. Gen. Hiram Bearss and a sister, Mrs. Desdemona Edwards preceded him in death.
--He was a member of the First Presbyterian church, the Elks Lodge and Columbia Club, Indianapolis.
--Funeral services will be held from the Allen Funeral home at 2 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Dale Dickey officiating. Burial will be in the Bearss cemetery.
--Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. Monday.
