William David Greer was born May 14, 1866 in Tennessee (probably Blount County) to Andrew Vance & Catharine (Gregory) Greer. On March 25, 1886 he married Susan Nettie Painter, daughter of A.L. Painter, in Newton County, Missouri.

They had the following children: Essel Allen; Nellie Katherine; Florence Edna; Elsie Mahalah; and Thelma Hope.

William Greer died Oct 23, 1923, probably in Panola County, TX.

The Miller Funeral Home Records, LeFlore Co, OK lists Essel Allen Greer, son of W.D. & Nettie Painter Greer, died May 17, 1919, at the age of 33; of tuberculosis-flu. He was buried in Howe Cemetery, LeFlore Co., OK.
