Mrs. Catherine Greer was born in Blount County, Tennessee August 17, 1828 and died at Pioneer, Mo. Dec 21, 1906 aged 78 years, 4 months and 4 days. She was the wife of Rev. A.V. Greer who died Jun 12 1903; age 79 years, 5 months and 21 days.

Rev. Greer was a Baptist minister and he and his wife were two of the sturdy pioneers of this section. Mrs. Greer's place of residence was near Newstead, Missouri. Mr. And Mr. Greer had 12 children, ten of whom are living: 5 boys and 5 girls: Lela Olive Greer, 1847; Elizabeth Jane Greer, May 30, 1848; Rachel Greer, July 30, 1851 (married Christian Long); James R. Greer, 1853; Susan Greer, Dec 24, 1854; John Calvin Greer, July 17, 1858; Andrew Young Greer, Oct 20, 1861; Noah Houston "Hugh" Greer, July 17, 1864; William David Greer, May 14, 1866; Walter Greer, June 7, 1869; Lorena Catharine Greer, Dec 17, 1871; and Effie Palestine Greer, Feb 14, 1875.

Rev. Greer preached at Macedonia for a number of years and was a Faithful minister. His wife was a faithful member of his church and assisted him at all times in his ministry by her living words and counsel. Blessed are those who die in the Lord and Thrice Blessed are those who minister to his children. Their kind deeds live on and on long after they have gone to their Master. Rest in Peace.
