Clarke was the son of Peter Putman and Sarah Elizabeth Neiferd. A lifelong bachelor, he was 6 feet tall, handsome, usually wore a white shirt, tie and hat. Clarke was a crack shot with a rifle, and his house had turkey feathers and stuffed animals on the walls.

CLARK PUTMAN PASSES AWAY.
Clark Putman, well known resident of Ohio City, died Friday night due to a complication of diseases, at the home of his sister, Mrs. A.W. Hurraw, of West Crawford Street, where he had spent the past eight weeks of his fatal illness. Mr. Putman, who was 55 years of age, was not married but is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Scott Putman of Lima; Taylor Putman, of Fort Wayne; Newton Putman and Willis Putman of Ohio City; Mrs. Frank King, of Celina; Mrs. Clara Hartzog of Huntington, W. VA., and Mrs. Hurraw and Marion Putman, of this city. also a half brother and a half sister, Mrs. Marion Shaffer and D.H. Whitmore, both of Van Wert. The deceased was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge and in religious belief was a United Brethren. Funeral services were held Sunday after, 2:00 o'clock, at the Mt. Zion Church, West of Ohio City, in Liberty Township and was one of the largest funerals held there for some time. Burial at the church cemetery. The funeral was held under the auspices of the I.O.O.F. lodge of which he was a member.
