This circa 1920 German emergency money (notgeld) is multicolored and was printed by Schwarz of Lindenberg. On the obverse Dr. Eisenbarth is holding a large metal clyster (enema syringe) and a gold-headed walking stick. The opening words to a university drinking song appear at the top, "Ich bin der Doktor Eisenbarth." To the left, the denomination 2 Mark, and below that, "Dr. Eisenbarth is buried in the churchyard of Saint Aegidien Kirche." Below Dr. Eisenbarth the name of the issuing authority, the town of Hannov.-Münden (short for Hannoversch Münden). BZS archive.

Reverse of the above notgeld (emergency money) note depicting Dr. Eisenbarth cheerfully extracting a tooth from a seated patient while another patient sits on the ground after being heavily overdosed with opium as an anesthetic. Stanzas of the satirical drinking song, "Ich bin der Doktor Eisenbarth," are at the top and bottom of the note. BZS Archive.

A picture postcard produced for a philatelic event which took place in Hann. Munden from 22 to 26 May 1925. Dr. Eisenbarth, an itinerant eye surgeon, is buried in the crypt of St. Aegidienkirche. Since the 19th century, his memorial epitaph is on the southern exterior wall of the church. BZS archive

A close-up and cropped central figure of a printed half-tone photographic image on a postcard. a polychrome sculpture of Doctor Eisenbarth depicts him as a standing figure holding a pewter clyster (enema syringe) a bottle of tagged medicine is at his feet and a coat of arms below that. A caption in two parts is below that: In diesem Hause wirkte und starb Doktor Eisenbarth / Er war anders als sein Ruf, that roughly translates as: In this house died Doctor Eisenbarth / He was different from his reputation. This last statement confirms that he was admired by some, but vilified by others.

The text on the address side of the postcard is: Als wanderdoktor LieB er sich in Hann, Munden nieder und praktizierte auf der Landgen Strasse wo noch heute Holzfigur an sein Wirken erinnert Der Doctor starB 1727 in diesem Haus, which roughly translates to: As a traveling doctor he loved Hann, Munden and settled down to practiced [in no. 79] Landgen Street where today a statue to his work reminds us the Doctor died in this house in 1727.
