Newton was born on March 18, 1928 to the union of Ray and Audria Oxford in Dubach. He died Friday, August 14, 2015 in Ruston, LA. Newton is preceded in death by his parents; son, Phillip Oxford and sister, Mary Alice Martin.
Mr. Oxford is survived by his wife of 64 years: Phyllis Wiley Oxford; three daughters: Paula Stephenson of Ringgold, Patricia and husband Rodney Howard of Dubach, and Priscilla and husband Tommy Ford of Ruston; sister, Melba Whitman, grandchildren: Coty Stephenson and wife Barbara of Ringgold, Ryan Howard of Dubach, and Madison Ford of Ruston; two great grandchildren: Jett Stephenson and Cassie Stephenson; nieces, nephews and numerous friends. Mr. Oxford was always willing to do for others and taking care of things that needed to be done. He loved spending time with his family and spent his spare time farming and working with his cows and horses. "Tank" was a dozer operator for Lincoln Parish and later was a dedicated employee of Davison Trucking for 26 years. He was also a deacon of First Baptist Church in Dubach. Serving as pallbearers will be: Jimmy Robinson, Randy Whitman, Ken Martin, Coty Stephenson, Mike Caver, and Jimmy Martin. Honorary pallbearers are Modell Robinson, and the James Hamilton Sunday school class.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 15, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Owens Memorial Chapel.
