Well Known Lodian Dies
Mrs.Edna Marie Wittmeier, 48, whose parents were pioneer settlers in the Lodi district, and the mother of Don Wittmeier, local real estate broker, passed away Friday, following a long illness in her home in Oakland.
Mrs. Wittmeier was a native of Lodi and had lived here all her life until 12 years ago when she and her husband moved to Oakland, residing at 2021 East 24th street.
Her father and mother were among Lodi's early day residents. Ray road and Ray school are both named for her father, the late David L. Ray. Her mother was Marie Murray, of a pioneer family from Burson.
Mrs. Wittmeier was active with the Thornton Grange and the White Apron Club in Lodi.
She is survived by her husband Edward Wittmeier, Oakland; mother, Mrs. Marie Ray, Oakland; Don Wittmeier, Lodi; two daughters, Mrs. Lois Basil, Oakland, and Mrs. Ileene Testo, Oakland; sister, Mrs. Grace Baum, Oakland; grandchildren, Vickey and Rhoda Basil and Bruce and Craig Wittmeier; nephew, William Baum.
