Marie Elizabeth Ray, 87, a former resident of Lodi and member of a pioneer family, died Saturday afternoon in an Alameda hospital after an extended illness.
Born in Burson, the daughter of John and Emily Murray who came to this area in 1878, she moved to Lodi at the age of four years. She married David L Ray Aug 27 1898 and farmed here with her husband for many years. She moved to Oakland in 1941 and made her home at 2218 Harrington Ave. until her death.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Georgia L. Baum of Oakland; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Burial in Cherokee Memorial Park.
