He had lived most of his life in Pittsylvania County. He retired from the U.S. Navy with the rank of YN1-E6, where he worked in navy intelligence with 21 years of service. He enjoyed being Santa Claus for Best Photo at many of the area childcare centers and local churches. He was a member of Sandy Creek Baptist Church and a member of American Legion Post 325. He married Ann Talbott Walker on Sept. 7, 2000.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Montina W. Aldridge, Gina M. Walker and Sallie W. Vincent; two stepdaughters, Gaylene T. Barber and Joyce Lavinder; a stepson, Steve Talbott; a sister, Joan W. Lee; a half-brother, Alfred Walker; eight grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Peter Lee Walker.
Interment will be in Highland Burial Park with military honors provided by American Legion Dan River Post 1097 Honor Guard.
