Born May 13, 1917 in Danville, she was the daughter of the late D.D. Weatherford and the late Annie Neatherly Weatherford.
She lived most all of her life in Pittsylvania County and Danville. She worked for the former People's Drugstore on Main Street for a number of years and also the former Ma Collins store on South Boston Road before becoming a full-time homemaker. She was a member of Ringgold Baptist Church and also the Joy Club.
She is survived by one son, Bobby Lee Walker of Ringgold; one daughter, Joan Marie W. Lee of Augusta, Ga.; two brothers, Garnett Weatherford of Alexandria, Va. and D.D. Weatherford Jr. of Danville; three sisters, Thelma W. Snead and Helen W. Barksdale, both of Danville and Betty W. Atkinson of Ringgold; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by six brothers, James Weatherford, Lindsey Weatherford, George Weatherford, Johnny Weatherford, William Weatherford and Emmett Weatherford; and one sister, Lillian W. Snead.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 19 at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel with the Rev. Carl E. Burger officiating. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel and at other times they will be at the residence of her son, Bobby L. Walker, 5349 Rocksprings Road, Ringgold.
Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
