She was the mother of Alexander More (1740-1805) and John More Jr. (1745-1840), who emigrated to America and ultimately settled in Roxbury, Delaware Co., NY.
More family lore recounts that John More Jr. saw his mother but not his father (who was apparently already deceased) during a return trip to Scotland relative to an inheritance. It is therefore presumed that Isobel survived her husband. For the same reason, she is believed to be the mother of all of John More Sr.'s children even though the baptismal records attributed to the youngest two give the mother's name as Margaret Duncan.
The source for this information is genealogist Bolard More. In his article "Ancestry of John More and Betty Taylor in Scotland," published in The Historical Journal of the More Family 8:32 et seq. (1991-92), Bolard also makes the following statement relevant to Isobel:
"Then apparently John More Sr. and his wife, Isobel Duncan, died in Rothiemurchus and were probably buried in the churchyard there, but there are no tombstones for them."
Thus, Isobel's place of death is shown above as Rothiemurchus, and her memorial is tentatively placed in this burial ground.
