Son of Benjamin and Margaret Cleveland.


Married to Ora Endemile (Robbins) Cleveland on January 10, 1889. Father of Ollie, Lillie Nancy, Ira Martin, Ruth, Paul Christopher, Sparkle, and Ellard Quinton Cleveland as well as one unknown child that died very young.

Prominent Farmer Found Dead In Bed


Ben Cleveland, 73, Died Suddenly At Home East of Carlisle.


Ben Cleveland, well known farmer, living six miles east of Carlisle, was found dead in bed Saturday morning. Mr. Cleveland was 73 years old. He had been troubled some with a heart ailment, but he was in apparent good health Friday when he retired for the night.


The deceased was a prominent democrat and a staunch supporter of its principles.


He was the son of the late Benjamin and Margaret Cleveland, pioneer residents of this county.


Surviving are the wife, Mrs. Ora Robbins Cleveland, and the following children, Everett Cleveland of Salt Lake, Utah, Mrs. Ollie Corbin of Artesian, N. Mexico, Ira Cleveland of Carlisle, Paul Cleveland of Carlisle, Ellard Cleveland of this county, and Mrs. Arista Stafford of Florida. A son and a daughter are deceased, Herbert Cleveland and Mrs. Lillie Wells.


Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at one thirty o'clock at the Indian Prairie Church with burial in the Odd Fellows Cemetery at Carlisle.

Benjamin Cleveland, 72 Years Old, Found Dead In Bed Saturday Morning.


Benjamin Cleveland, 72 year old, a well-known farmer of Jefferson Township and a life-long resident, was found dead in his bed at his home six miles west of Carlisle, Saturday morning. He had been in his usual good health when he retired Friday evening. He had been troubled with heart ailment which is supposed to have been the cause of his sudden death. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at the Indian Prairie Church with burial following at the Odd Fellows Cemetery at Carlisle.


The deceased was born in Jefferson Township in 1859, and was a son of the late James and Margaret Cleveland, pioneers of that community.


Surviving are the wife, Mrs. Ora Robbins Cleveland, and the following children, Everett Cleveland of Salt Lake, Utah, Mrs. Ollie Corbin of Artesia, N. Mexico, Ira Cleveland and Paul Cleveland of Carlisle, Mrs. Ruth Henderson, of east of Carlisle, Ellard Cleveland of this county and Mrs. Arista Stafford of Florida.

The funeral of Ben Cleveland, prominent Haddon Township farmer who died suddenly at his home seven miles east of Carlisle last Saturday, was held at the Indian Prairie Baptist Church Wednesday afternoon and was conducted by Rev. Clive McGuire of Indianapolis.
