At Clinton—Miss Barbara Lou Hansel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Hansel of Edgewood, to Joy Clifton Moser, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Moser of Manchester, May 29 in the First Methodist church. Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Hartman, brother-in-law and sister of : the bridegroom, attended the couple. They will make their home in Manchester.


Barbara Lou Moser, 86, of Edgewood, Iowa, passed away at her home on Saturday, August 8, 2015. She was born on November 4, 1928, in Edgewood the daughter of Everett and Edna (Arthur) Hansel. Barb was raised in Edgewood; her parents co-owned and operated the Hansel Café with her aunt and uncle. Barb helped out in the restaurant growing up. Ten days after her graduation from Edgewood High School in 1946, she started working in the Edgewood Bank. She was employed in banking in Davenport and Osceola also.

On May 29, 1950, Barb was united in marriage to Joy C. Moser, together they lived in Osceola. In 1952, they returned to Edgewood and Joy and Barbara purchased a grocery store which became Moser's Jack and Jill. They owned and operated this store for 24 years. Barbara returned to work at the Edgewood Bank in 1968 and worked another 21 years until her retirement in 1989. She continued to keep books for the grocery store.

Upon her retirement, Barbara enjoyed some travel, reading, playing cards, embroidery, making quilts, and spending time with family.

Barbara was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Faith Circle. She was involved in Eastern Star, Pythian Sisters, and the American Legion Auxiliary for many years.

Survivors include her son, David (Maylo) Moser of Edgewood; a daughter, Jackie (Jeff) Foster of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, Jeremy (Tami Richardson) Moser and Jennifer (Mike) Hungate all of Marion, Paul (Chris) Moser of Edgewood, Kyle (Amber Chaptman) Foster and Courtney (Damien Anderson Sr.) Foster all of Cedar Rapids, and Steve Richards of Cedar Falls; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Russell of Edgewood and Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joy in 1974; a son, Jeff; and a daughter-in-law, Aileen.
