Jacob Müller was the son of Johann Müller and Anna Christina Schmitt, all of whom emigrated from Prussia {today Germany) and arrived at Port of New York on 3 August 1842 aboard the ship Harvest. Jacob married Maria Rothermel, daughter of Franz Rothermel and Elizabeth Schwartz, about 1845 and their first child, Elisabeth, was baptised on 6 October 1846, as recorded at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Wilmette, Cook County, Illinois. Jacob and Maria were the parents of fifteen known children, in order of birth: Elisabeth, Franz, Catharina, Christina, Margaretha, Caroline, Catharina, Maria Elisabeth, Johann Adam, Anna Eva, Joseph, Barbara, Peter, Anna Maria and George ~
