Mrs. Catherine Burkholder died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. George K. Curtis of Ellenboro, Wi. Sept. 19, 1895. She was married to David Burkholder at the age of 18 years. They settled in Grant Co. in 1844 and lived after that in the town of Harrison. Mrs. Burkholder was the mother of a large family of children, for whose welfare and happiness, she labored with untirilng zeal. She had the esteem and affection of a large number of neighbors and friends. She died after a short illness at the age of 78 years. Her funeral was held at the Whig Church last Friday. Rev. C. A. Wight preaching the funeral sermon.

(David and Catherine Burkholder did not come to Grant Co., WI. in 1844. They were married in Keene, Coshocton Co., OH. about 1836 and had ten children there; Lydia, Jacob, David, Mary (Polly) Ezekiel, Rosanna, Harriet, Katherine and James. They then moved to Grant Co., about 1856 where they had two more children; John and William.)
