Berneice Jackson Crutchfield, 63, Idabel, passed away Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002, at Presbyterian Hospital, Oklahoma City.
She was born Dec. 27, 1938, at Idabel, the daughter of the Rev. Joe and Roaner Jackson.
Bernice attended school at Maple Springs Elementary in Idabel and graduated from Booker T. Washington in 1957.
She met and married James Crutchfield and spent 48 loving and caring years with him.
She became a part of God's army at an early age and continued faithfully up to her death. She was a devoted Sunday school teacher and member of Maple Spring Baptist Church for numerous years under the leadership of the Rev. Jimmie Williams.
She was a teacher's aide for Richland Elementary School and also worked for the Idabel Street Department where she retired after 19 1/2 years of service.
Berneice leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, James Crutchfield of the home; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Mary Beard, Maggie Batties, and JoAnn McKnight and Raymond McKnight; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Willie Jackson, Lofton Jackson, Ulysses Jackson, Frank Jackson and James Jackson; three sisters, Henretta Owens, Luvenia Jackson and Gladys Jackson; and three brothers-in-law, Carvin Beard, Johnnie Batties and Samuel Owens.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, at Maple Spring Baptist Church, Idabel, with the Rev. Steve Owens officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Spring Cemetery.
