John began in the cattle business shortly after marrying and helfd grazing permits on land administered by both the US Forest Service and the BLM. He served on the advisory boards of both government entities during this period. John also served on the Coconino County committee of the Arizona Stabilazation and Conservation Service and on the Arizona Strip Advisory Board. His busy life included a tax preparation business for many years, during which he was an enrolled agent with the Internal Revenue Service.
He particularly enjoyed his fifteen years of employment with Energy Fuels Nuclear, Inc., a company for whom he served as Fielf Administrator and as local contact person to various government agencies.
John served as a Kanab City Councilman and as a Kane County Hospital Board Member. John also served in various church positions throughout his life including Stake Financial Auditor at the time of his death.
He retired to the enjoyment of caring for his property, maintaining his equipment and keeping atleast one project going at all times. John will be remembered always for the love he showed for his family, for his integrity and honesty and for his constant ability to bring a smile to ones face with comments only he could make.
Surviving him are his wife, Addie Lou; five children Kenneth (Denise), Jeff (Wendy), Belinda (Jim) Hunter, Bill (Rochelle) and Mike; thirteen grandchildren; Eric (Stacey), Keven (Lacey), Brent, Jennifer (Vern), Kirsten, Brannon, Matt, Krista (Preston), Kendra (Dillon), Alexandra, Sarah, Katelyn, Will, and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, Beatrice Carr and Leah Dona Southworth and brother in law Darrell Lathim. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Rodney Perkins and Sister, Oneita Lathim.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday July 25, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Kanab Utah South LDS Chapel. Viewings will be held Monday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. at Mosdell Mortuary and Tuesday morning from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the chapel. Burial will be in the Kanab Cemetery under the direction of Mosdell Mortuary.
