Obituary:
RICHMOND, Ind. – Marcus Glendon Tuttle, age 87, of Richmond, died Friday, July 31, 2015, at Rosebud Village. Born at home on January 20, 1928, in the area of Doug Hill (Newton Place Farm) in Estill County, Kentucky, to John Newton ”Newt” and Dora Cook Tuttle, Glen lived most of his life in this area. He was known by many people simply as Glen. Glen served as a radio operator in the United States Army Air Corps, earning the World War II Victory Medal. He worked at Crosley and later retired from AVCO after 19 1/2 years. Glen owned and operated Tuttle’s Drive-In, also known as the Dairy D, located on Main Street in Centerville, Indiana. People from miles around would come to Tuttle’s for a complete meal or sometimes just some ice cream. Glen was always happy to please people and had a mind that was uncluttered and always at peace with God and himself. He led a life that was truthful and not deceptive, and many people were blessed by his presence, and maybe even followed in his footsteps. He and Mickey spent 16 winters in Florida. Glen had a great love for life and besides being a quiet and wise man he also had a deeply rooted great love for Jesus. His secondary loves were, of course, his family and friends. He was quite an avid fisherman, enjoying bass fishing in Crystal River Lake. Glen enjoyed the inner peace and joy that was given to him by our Father, God Almighty. He attended Fountain City Wesleyan Church and Red Level Baptist Church in Crystal River, Florida. Glen was very well loved by his family. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, M. Elizabeth “Mickey” Carmichael Tuttle, to whom he was married on November 24, 1949; sons, Marcus Glendon Tuttle Jr. of Richmond and Timothy Eugene Tuttle of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandson, Glen Tuttle III and his wife, Heather of Eaton, Ohio; granddaughter, Emily Tuttle Seals and her husband, Chris of Ridgecrest, California; great-granddaughters, Brianna and Abbi Tuttle; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Jean Tuttle; parents; sisters, Bartha Fox, Maggie Shiflett, Hazel Reed, Vina Rose, and Alice “Allie” Boain; and brothers, Cecil, Paul, and Brown Tuttle. Visitation for Marcus Glendon Tuttle will be from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home.
