Joseph Wilson Adams was the son of Thomas and Margaret Ann "Annie" Crawford Adams. His father died as a result of his injuries and typhoid fever while serving in the Civil War when Joseph was only three years old. His mother died when he was eight years old and his Uncle James Crawford became his legal guardian until the age of 16. His maternal grandparents were William and Letitia Crawford of Allegheny City (now Northside Pittsburgh), Pa. He married Sirrisah L Twyford in 1879 and they became the parents of five children. They lived their entire married lives in Butler county. He was survived by his wife and two sons, Horace W and G Dewey, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Victoria Adams Reges and Sarah Jane Wilson, one son, Joseph H and a sister, Mary Jane. Joseph was a farmer in Butler County and died as a result of a sun stroke. He was my maternal great grandfather. He is buried in the Brownsdale Presbyterian Cemetery, Butler County, Pennsylvania.
