She was born Sept. 30, 1911, in Panola County to David Roberson "Dee" and Daisy Alabama Thorne Johnson. She was a retired school teacher, a sales clerk, and a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include...
her husband, James Shelby McCullar, Sr. of Batesville;
one son, James Shelby McCullar, Jr. of Pontotoc;
two sisters, Lillian Jewel Johnson Childs of Batesville and Leacy Velma Johnson Barnett of Sardis;
six grandchildren,
six great-grandchildren.
