William W. Black, 81, retired Owen township farmer, died Thursday afternoon in the home of his daughter, Mrs. D.J. Betts, in Rockton.
Mr. Black was born in Rockton Juy 27, 1873, and spent a lifetime in this area. He married the former Blanche Webber Nov. 17, 1893.
Surviving are four daughters; Mrs. Hattie Cooper, Durand, Ill.; Mrs. Mabel Harnish, Caledonia; Mrs. Irma Betts, Rockton; Mrs. Emma Peucker, Roscoe; three sons, Fred and Ray Black, both in Rockton; Howard Black, Pecatonica, Ill.; 16 grandchildren and six great great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Ida Griswold, Summitt, S.D.; Mrs. Mabel Wright, Milbank, S.D., and Mrs. Louise Collins, Ronan, Mont.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Rosman-Uehling-Kinzer chapel. Burial will be in Rockton cemetery. The family will meet friends in the mortuary between 7 and 8:30 Friday night.
