A graveside service celebrating his life will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery.
Born in Guilford County to the late Vertner Ray Ward Sr. and Mary Dalton Ward, Mr. Ward was of the Baptist faith. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a self-employed contractor.
Mr. Ward was also preceded in death by two brothers, Vertner Ray Ward Jr. and James D. Ward.
Those left to cherish his memory include his brother, Claude W. Ward and his wife Mary of Madison; sisters, Sara W. Vinson, Sue W. Overman, both of Greensboro, Mary Lee Overman of Georgia and Rebecca W. Williams of Greensboro; along with an entire host of nieces and nephews.
