Mr. Bruce F. “Bud” Moore, age 85 of Brighton, beloved husband and father, passed away January 25, 2011 at Arbor Hospice Residence in Ann Arbor. He was born January 17, 1926, in Lansing, MI the son of Robert B. & Edna M. (Logan) Moore. He was married to Sharon D. Eister who survives him.

Mr. Moore served with the US Navy during WWII.

Mr. Moore, or “Bud” as he is known, started his newspaper career with the Lansing State Journal, then with the Pontiac Press and Grand Rapids Herald. He went on to be Promotion Manager of the Ann Arbor News, where he worked for 22 years. He received a BA in Journalism from Michigan State University. He traveled, photographed, and published features of his travels in Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, the Orient, the Bahamas and the remote Micronesian islands in the Central Pacific. He was a circumnavigator, and was a member of SKAL International, and a former board member of the Pacific Asia Travel Association. Both are Detroit chapters of international travel organizations. He also traveled and wrote about destinations in Canada and South America. In addition, Bud was a member of the Ann Arbor Chamber of Commerce. Under the sponsorship of the Ann Arbor News, he was involved with the Ypsilanti Heritage Festival and with the Red Cross, Ann Arbor chapter. In addition, Bud created a teaching package entitled “Newspaper in the Classroom.” Among his other accomplishments he started the Ann Arbor News Ski School, and promoted the Kodak and travel shows.

Surviving is his wife Sharon Moore of Brighton, a son: Scott (Marilisa) Moore of New York; a daughter: Cathy (John) Foster of Grand Blanc, grandchildren: Anna Moore, Megan (Robert) Bishop, Mark, John Paul, and Patrick Foster, and a great-grandson, Kayden Bishop. He is also survived by a sister, Connie Best of Diamondale, MI and a niece, Pam Shoulders of California. Mr. Moore was preceded in death by a son, Shawn Moore in 1985.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 30, 2011 from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Keehn Funeral Home, Brighton. The vigil service will be Sunday, at 7:00 P.M., also at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 31, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Mary Magdalen Parish, Brighton, with interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Brighton. Visitation will begin at church at 10:00 a.m. Monday morning. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimers Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
