He worked in the Parts Department at L. B. Smith Ford, Lemoyne, and had formerly worked as an assistant sales manager for American Auto Parts, a salesman for Snap-On Tools, and retired from the Tip Staff in Dauphin Co. Courthouse.
He was a WWII and Korean War Navy veteran where he was a Seabee and photographer and attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer; a 1942 graduate of the former William Penn High School; a former member of the 29th Street United Methodist Church, Harrisburg, and its Golden Agers; a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Harrisburg; Perseverance Lodge #21, F.&A.M., Harrisburg; Harrisburg Consistory; Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Harrisburg Forest #43 and it's Drill Team for over 63 years. Born on May 28, 1923, he was the son of the late Leroy and Florence E. (Bruner) Prowell. Mr. Prowell was the widower of Genevieve L. Burgett Prowell.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Ken I. and Diana L. Prowell of Bristow, VA; a daughter and her husband, Kathy L. and Dan Davis of Linglestown; a sister, Inez O. "Sissy" Ott of Rocky Mount, VA; two grandchildren, Alison M. Davis and Adrienne M. Davis; two great grandchildren, Nicholas A. and Victoria E.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday August 5, 2015, at Calvary United Methodist Church, 4700 Locust Lane, Harrisburg, with the Rev. Jeff Fisher officiating. Burial with military honors will be held in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Twp. Viewing will be held one hour prior to services in the church.
