Frederick Sherman Passed Away at the Advanced Age of 74.
______

Frederick Sherman, whose dangerous illness has been spoken of in these columns, died at 7:25 this morning at the age of 74, from a complication of diseases. He was comparatively an old settler, coming to Minnesota in 1867, and has made his home in St. Cloud for twenty-three years. He was beloved and respected. A friend speaking of his death said: 'This is truly a saint called home.' The deceased was born in New York state July 16, 1823 and was married to Electa McDonald Nov. 5, 1842, in New York state. They have consequently lived together 55 years. The family consisted of four sons and three daughters of whom only Mrs. E. G. Holmes, of Detroit, Minn., and Samuel E., remain to mourn the death of their father. A brother and sister of Mr. Sherman are living in Otter Tail county this state and another brother and sister live in New York.
Mr. Sherman was a lineal descendant of Isaac and Mary Stearns, who settled in Watertown, Mass., in 1630, and also a lineal descendant of Aaron Stearns, who fought in the revolution and of whom all people by the names of Stearns in the United States are descendants.
The funeral will take place from the home, 111 Sixth street south, at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Rev. Dr. Ray, officiating."
