Services of Remembrance for Mr. Bowling will be conducted at 11 A.M. Saturday, August 1, 2015 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville. Interment with Military Honors will be in the Shady Grove Cemetery at Williston. A visitation for Mr. Bowling will be from 10 to 11 A.M. Saturday, August 1st at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville.
Mr. Bowling was born February 18, 1924 in Williston. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie Green Bowling and Bettie Cleo Patterson Bowling. He received his education in the Fayette County Public School System and served his country in the United States Army during the World War II period from May 1, 1943 until October 4, 1945. He was a Purple Heart recipient and served under General Patton. Mr. Bowling was a cattleman for many years before his retirement. A Christian, he enjoyed quail hunting, rabbit hunting, cattle farming and watching nature.
Mr. Bowling is survived by two sisters, Mary Bowling Redfearn of Somerville, Barbara Jean Bowling of Bartlett. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Irene Bowling McEdwards, Earline Bowling McNabb and his brothers, Jimmie Bowling, Smith Bowling, Robert Bowling, Leland Bowling, Millard Bowling and Alan Bowling.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Millard Bowling, Jr., Will Bowling, Brennan Bowling, Jimmie Bowling, Ed Denniston and Peyton Bowling.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor's choice.
