Aunt Ruth was born to Lithuanian immigrants who were spending one school year in Chicago, trying to establish a store. But, they returned to their home in Lafayette, Colorado, where Ruth grew up. Aunt Ruth told me that she was very spoiled because she was the youngest girl, and well loved by her siblings and cousins. She entered the US Cadet Nurse Corps in Denver in 1945, but told me it was "not for her", so she dropped out and went to Albuquerque to learn hair dressing from her sister Tillie. She married and moved to Ohio for a time, but returned to Albuquerque until her death. She was funny and told good stories. She was a avid rockhound and collector.
