Mitchell was the son of Mitchell Haywood Jones and Gwendolyn Spohn. He attended Joplin High School, Franklin Tech Vocational School and Bethany Nazarene College. His first job was with Fox and Jacob's Home construction in Dallas, Tx., he also worked for Tam Company roofing, BF Goodrich, Borgworner, Nazarene Publishing House and HyVee. Mitchell was a member of St. Paul's Church of the Nazarene and Joplin First Church of the Nazarene. His special achievements include, Army ROTC, built churches, chapels, custom crosses and Costa Rica Missions trips.
Mitchell married the love of his life Carol Yvonne Evans on 8-21-1967 in Joplin, MO. Mitchell and Carol adopted 2 children Jason and Jana Beth Jones. Survivors include Jana Beth (Jones) Adkinson and husband Karl of Warrensburg, MO. 1 granddaughter, Mykyla Leihm Jones whom he and Carol adopted; step-grandchildren, Jayden Adkinson, Vivienne Adkinson of Warrensburg, MO.
Additional survivors include his wife Carol, one brother Bruce Timothy Jones, Miami, OK. and one sister Bonnie Frances and husband Thomas Earl McLauglin of Marceline, MO. and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, one brother Calvin Ray Jones and one son Jason Christopher Jones.
Funeral services will be at St. Paul's Church of the Nazarene under the direction of McGilly State Line Chapel in Kansas City, MO., graveside service will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday 31, 2015 at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin, MO.
