Honey Grove

Funeral services for Mrs. Virginia Bates, age 83, of Honey Grove, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 26, 1998 at Cooper Sorrells Chapel in Honey Grove. Officiating will be Rev. Russ Noland. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning at the funeral home in Honey Grove.

Active pallbearers are Stewart Bates, Keith Bates, Jimmy Bates, Sam Reece, Elmer Harrison and Draxton Darr.

Mrs. Bates was born on February 28, 1915 in Eliasville to Dee Clark and Fern Fielding.

She married Aubrey Bates on December 25, 1933 in Honey Grove.

She was a homemaker and a member of McKenzie United Methodist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Bates are husband, Aubrey Bates of the home; son, Clark Bates of Stillwater, OK; 2 brothers, Bobby Joe Clark of Lake Jackson, TX and Richard Clark of Lake Jackson, TX; 3 grandsons, Stewart Bates of Brenham, Brent Bates of Paris, and Keith Bates of Allen; and 6 grandchildren.
