Marie Dorthee Henrietta Nadtler Dominici (known as Henrietta) was born in Osterwalt, Hanover Germany. On October 4, 1846 at the age of 22 she married William Dominci.

During December 1852, as a passenger on the sailing ship Herschel, she (being pregnant) and her husband and two daughters began a five month journey to America, arriving first in New York, then sailing to the Isthmus of Panama, finally through San Francisco and up the San Joaquin River to the small town of Knight's Ferry, where they sat out on horseback to their final destination of La Grange, California where her husband's brother and his family awaited their arrival.

William and Henrietta Dominici had eight children during their 58 year marriage: Deitrich Wilhelm, Dorothee Louise Caroline Henrietta, Theodore Marie, Callifornia Sherlotte, Ernest, Milton Fry, Herman Louis and Rosa Lorinda.

Henrietta Dominici died February 22, 1905 and is buried next to her husband in the La Grange Cemetery, now resting side by side.

The following is taken from the Stanislaus County Weekly News dated Friday, February 24, 1905:

A Prominent Woman in Early Development Has Gone Beyond. Mrs. Henrietta Dominici, who for many years past has resided on a rance three miles northwest of La Grange, died on Wednesday evening at her home, a victim of a complication of diseases which ended in heart trouble.

Se was a native of Germany, but came to this country when she was quite a young girl and settled in Satanislaus County many years ago.

She was well known to a number of the present residents of Stanislaus County and her death will be regretted by many old friends. Her death was suddent, and is a particularly hard blow to the immediate family.

The funeral ceremonies will be held at her late residence, near La Grange on Friday afternoon at one o'clock. From the residence the cortege will proceed to the cemetery at La Grange where the last sad rites will be said over the remains.

Mrs. Dominici was the relict of the late William Dominici, who died about a year ago at his home near LaGrange on the 17th of February, 1904.

The deceased is survived by several children and a number of relatives who deeply mourn her loss. Her husband was a prominent land owner and farmer in La Grange, and the death of Mrs. Dominici means the passing of the head of one of Stanislaus' most prominent families.
