Parrott Hollis, called P.E. or Pat, was my grandfather. Born in Benton County, Mississippi, he moved first to Fayette county and then Memphis. His first marriage, to Argine Worley, produced two sons - my uncles Parrott Edwin Hollis Jr. (called Edwin or Ed) and Hosea Hollis. His second marriage, to my grandmother Esther Jane Jeffrey, produced eight more children, including my mother, Elizabeth Ella Hollis Knoblock.
My memories of my grandfather are fond ones - of his scratchy beard, his birds, his candy jar (ribbon candy and circus peanuts)and trips to the cemetery, the grocery store, the fair, and lakeland.
