She grew up and attended schools in Union City, Calif. On May 2l, l947, she married Robert A. Coates of Carey, Idaho. They lived in California for 5 years before moving to Carey - Bobs hometown. Though she knew it meant moving far away from her close- knit family. She retired from Government Service in l986. She was a member of St. Pauls Catholic Church, an auxiliary of the Legion of Mary, and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She was also an active member of the Mercy Medical Center Auxiliary. She enjoyed performing volunteer work as a Spanish Interpreter and helping others with the translation of Spanish documents. Esther was a friendly person and knew no strangers. She enjoyed spectator sports as well as listening to music and dancing with her husband.
