Margaret E. Botz, age 103, of Oshkosh, died on October 1, 2016 at Eastbrooke Manor. She was born in Oshkosh on January 28, 1913, the daughter of the late Otto and Anna (Madler) Ostertag. Margaret married Gilbert Botz in Oshkosh on February 15, 1939.
As one of ten children, family was the joy of Margaret's life. Her parents instilled in all their children the principles of kindness, generosity, faith, hard work, and love for others. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles, and cooking. Throughout her many years, Margaret was active in women's church organizations and volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul. She could be found with the family cooking and baking, as well as sewing and knitting clothes for her grandchildren and other children in need. She will be remembered for her delicious cooking, especially her pies, rye bread and sugar cookies, and for her selflessness, love of family, and a smile that showed her kind heart and spirit.
Survivors include one daughter, Ellen (Mike) Lloyd of Oshkosh; two grandchildren, Sara (Ben) Vollbrecht and Michael Lloyd, Oshkosh; one sister, Marietta Martin, Denton, TX, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert, one daughter, Sr. Donna Marie Botz, one son, Richard Botz, five brothers and three sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, October 7, 2016, 11 am at Most Blessed Sacrament Parish (St. Mary's Church), 605 Merritt Ave., Father James Jugenheimer will be the celebrant. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday morning from 10 am until the time of Mass. Committal services will be held at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
