Abelino Griego, born on September 7, 1933 and better known as Abie, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, NM, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 13, 2015.
Abie proudly served with the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and continued serving his country with Civil Service at KAFB until his retirement.
Abelino is survived by his four children, Randy Griego (Donna) of Peoria AZ, Steven Griego (Melissa), Stephanie Griego and Amy Garley (Dale) of Hermantown, MN, granddaughters, Erica Griego, Vanessa Sandoval, Alexzandria Griego, Danielle Griego, Samantha Griego, Cyana Garley and Isabella Garley, grandsons, Christopher Sandoval, Vincent Griego and Brandon Griego and great-grandchild, Jude "The Bum" Sandoval. Abie is also survived by brothers, Billy Griego (Frances), Ernie Griego (Priscilla) and Bobby Griego, sisters, Della Griego and Luisa Griego all of Albuquerque, as well as nieces, nephews and friends.
Abelino was preceded in death by his father, Mauricio Griego, mother, Eloisa Griego and brother, Alfred Griego.
Visitation will begin on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. followed by the rosary at 7:00 p.m. at French – University, Albuquerque, NM. Mass of the Resurrection will be on Friday, July 24, 2015 at 9:00 a.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco Dr. SW, Albuquerque, NM. Interment will follow at Santa Fé National Cemetery, Santa Fé, NM at 3:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Brandon Griego, Vincent Griego, Christopher Sandoval, Daniel Apodaca, Dale Garley and Miguel Williams. Honorary Pallbearers are Gino Arana and Anselmo "Samo" Chávez.
