Born March 17, 1944, in Scranton, son of the late Willard and Margaret Battle Bockelkamp, he graduated from Scranton Technical High School in 1962. He enlisted in the Navy, where he was an interior communications technician and served in Vietnam on the USS Gen. W.A. Mann (T-AP112).
Before retiring, he was a construction electrician in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 81, and worked at Procter & Gamble for many years. He was a member of Clarks Summit VFW Post 7069 and Trinity Lutheran Church, Clarks Summit.
After retiring, he enjoyed spending more time with his family and cultivating a vegetable garden at his home. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He died surrounded by his family.
He is survived by two sons, Bret, Clarks Summit; and Ryan, Clearwater, Fla; two brothers, Donald and wife, Dolores, Carbondale; and Richard and wife, Dawn, St. Peters, Mo; several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a beloved son, Jeffrey T. Bockelkamp.
The funeral will be Saturday at 10am in Trinity Lutheran Church, 205 W. Grove St., Clarks Summit, with services by the Rev. George Mathews, pastor. Interment with Navy honors, Abington Hills Cemetery, South Abington Twp.
