Martha has been a resident of Flint for the past 49 years, when she relocated to the area with her husband, Henry Milton Dukes, and to this union 9 children were born. Martha was a longtime member of Joy Tabernacle and New Testament Church, formerly New Testament Non-Denominational Church, where she was President of the Usher Board, until her health failed. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother to all her children.
Mrs. Burts-Dukes is survived by her children: daughter, Flois Dukes; 7 sons, Walter, Samuel, David, Phillip, Rudolph and Dale Dukes, all of Flint, Henry (Jackie) Dukes of Detroit, MI, Luther B. (Marjorie) Evans of Flint; 25 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, including special cousin, Cora Marshall, and friends.
