"Benjamin Henry Grierson, former resident of Jacksonville and a son of the late General Benjamin Henry Grierson, Sr., distinguished military commander in the Civil War, d. Saturday, July 14, 1934, at El Paso, Texas, according to a telegram received here by W. A. Bancroft of South Diamond, from George M. Grierson (nee Theodore MacGregor Grierson), a brother. The body arrived in the city at 6:35 p.m. last evening and was taken to the Reynolds Mortuary. Brief services will be conducted at the East cemetery at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning. Reverend E. E. Madeira, Rector of Trinity church will officiate at the service at the grave. His grandparents, Robert & Mary Grierson were natives of Dublin, Ireland, emigrating to this country in 1819, going from New York, to Pittsburgh, thence to Pittsburgh, Pa., then to Youngstown, Ohio, and later to Jacksonville. His father was an accomplished musician and followed the profession of teaching music for several years after coming to this city after which he spent five years in the grain business at Meredosia.

B. H. Grierson, [Jr.], was one of seven children born of this union. He received his early education in the schools of this city and engaged in the ranch business with his brother, George M. Grierson at FORT DAVIS, TEXAS & vicinity most of his life".
