James is a son of James W Jacobs and Rebecca Jane Nickols Jacobs Poindexter. He married Sarah Margaret McGinnis (daughter of Thomas and Celia N Hall McGinnis, 1850, Dade County, MO Census) December 15, 1872, Dade County, MO.

The 1900 Dade County, MO Census lists J Frank Jacobs, 49, and wife Sarah M, 51, married 28 years, with 10 children, 8 living. The children at home: Lavanda C, 19; Tim Allen, 17; Oliver Perry, 15; Arthur C, 13; Mary Veta, 10; and James Frank, 9.

James, 82, died from Apoplexy (heart trouble, after an only few hours illness). Son Oliver Jacobs, Pennsboro, MO is the informant on his MO Death Certificate.

Wife Sarah died sometime after early 1916. She had a stroke in January, 1916, and the last newspaper reporting was that she went to Los Angeles, California March, 1916 to visit her daughters. She is listed in the 1920 Dade County, MO Census. I haven't been able to find information of her death or burial.
