Age 84 - passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Bethany Home in Waupaca, WI. She was born on June 2, 1928 in Waupaca, WI, the daughter of George and Maude (Moore) Severson. She married Robert R. Speer on September 6, 1952 in Weyauwega, WI. He preceded her in death on November 26, 1993.
Edna is survived by her sister: Effie Krueger of Waupaca, special niece: Karen Jensen of Belton, SC, her God child: Judy Cobb of Scottsdale, AZ, many other nieces, nephews, and friends, and her best friend: Shirley Alfuth of Waupaca. She was preceded in death by her husband: Robert, her parents, two brothers: James and Carl Severson, and four sisters: Florence Rendall, Emma Buch, Ella Hall, and Dolores Ray.
Edna had been employed at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King, WI for over 15 years, working in the Food Service Department and the Laundry Department. Following her time at the Veterans Home she worked for the Speed Queen Co. in Wautoma, and then at the Moore-O-Matic Co. in Waupaca for about five years. She enjoyed doing Jigsaw puzzles, word puzzles, and reading.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 1:30 PM at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca, WI. Interment will be in the Crystal Lake Cemetery. Twp. of Dayton, Waupaca County, WI. A visitation will be held at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca on Saturday from 11:30 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorials can be directed to Theda Care at Home Hospice, or to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America in memory of Edna I. Speer.
