Leonard was the son of Edmond Hooker and Mary Louvenia Varner Wilson. Following their marriage. Aletha and Leonard lived in West Texas where he operated a threshing machine on a fee basis for farmers. Later they decided to move to Dallas Tx., where he engaged in slaughtering meat and opened up a retail meat market. Later he added a line of groceries and was very successful in that endeavor. After retirement, which he found boring, he procured employment as a manager of the meat department of a large restaurant in Dallas where he worked into his eighties.
