Elmer Montie Lee Abbott

Elmer Montie Lee Abbott, age 74, was born June 28, 1941 in Monticello, KY. Elmer was the son of the late Arlen and Ivola (Troxell) Abbott. He departed this life at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in the Jean Waddle Care Center, Hospice of Lake Cumberland, after a long battle with cancer.
On March 30, 1963 he was united in marriage to Faye Tucker.

In addition to his wife, Faye Abbott, he is survived by: three children, Tammy Jones, Terri Abbott, and Scott (Carolyn) Abbott; grandchildren, Josh (Nicole) Jones, Jessica (Kyle) Hardwick, Jacob Upchurch, Chelsea Lair, Coty Lair, Lashanda (Aaron) Denham, and Tori Abbott; great grandchildren, Alexis Sloan, Camden Denham, Ava Denham, and Amos Doss. He is also survived by four brothers and sisters: Jack (Karen) Abbott, Shirley Frazer, Luther (Jerry) Abbott, and Deleen (Robert) Kincaid; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, Arlen and Ivola Abbott, he was preceded in death by: one sister and one brother, Betty Jean Dyson and Steven Arthur Abbott.

He accepted Christ as his Savior and became a member of the Meadow Creek Baptist Church. Later in life he joined Fall Creek United Baptist Church, where he attended for the last 10 years of his life. He always served the Lord; opening his home to feed the hungry and give them a place to sleep.

Emler’s dreams as a child has been fulfilled to be a dozer man for 59 years as a worker for Hobert Barrier and Greer Construction Company.

Elmer’s hobbies were fishing, reading, attending and watching Nascar races.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 after 11 am in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to: Fall Creek United Baptist Church
