Charles R. Emery, 77, died at the Ellettsville Nursing Home Monday at 2:05 p.m. He had lived at Bloomington, R. 4.

He was a retired switchman for the Monon Railroad, where he was employed for 47 years. After his retirement, he worked fro the safety division of Indiana University until 1956. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Odd Fellows Lodge for 53 years, Rebeccah [sic] Lodge, the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen, and the Borrowed Time Club.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Roy Doty, R. 4, and Mrs. A. Mason Amos, Indianapolis; a son, Charles M. Emery, Albuquerque, N. Mex.; a brother, Ben H. Emery, Chicago, six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Greene and Harrell Funeral Home Chapel with Dr.Howard Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the Clear Creek Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lura B. Emery, Aug. 19, 1959, and a son, Robert Emery, in 1935.

Active pallbearers will be Lee Durnal, H.F. Douglas, R.J. Durnal, Louis Love, Ed Woods, and Walter Hays.

Honorary pallbearers will be J. O. Cole, T. V. Sherrin, Dean Wampler, D.D. Patterson, John Pope, and Roy Pope.

Friends are asked to contribute to either the Crippled Children or Cancer Funds in memory of Mr. Emery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.
