Mr. Jesse L. Baker, age 85, of Lindale, died Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at a Tyler hospice facility.

He was born in Terrell on June 21, 1930, to William Lee and Bertha (McNeely) Baker.
He served in Korea as a staff sergeant in the Marine Corps. Mr. Baker was formerly of Van until he moved to Lindale in 1970 and later retired from Carrier Corp. in Tyler after 35 years. Jesse loved to garden, tear down old buildings and build new ones, but most of all he loved the Lord and spent many hours in prayer and fellowship.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Bertha Baker; brother, Bill Baker; and sisters, Pearl Rumfelt, Martha Taylor and Joyce Miller.

He is survived by his wife, Juanita Baker, of Lindale; four daughters, Lisa Vestal and husband Joel, of Gilmer, Loretta Ayres and husband Ron, of Tyler, Linda Elliott and husband Tim, of Amarillo, and Teresa Lazarz and husband Michael, of Lindale; three brothers, Milton Baker, of Canton, Henry Baker and wife Faye, of Canton, and Gary Baker and wife Marie, of Canton; three sisters, Clara Mae Word and husband Wayne, of Forney, Carolyn Sports, of Grand Prairie, and Bonnie Head, of Grand Prairie; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be B.J. Vestal, Justin Vestal, Jared Ayres, Troy Ayres, Joshua Elliott, and Andrew McElroy. Honorary pallbearer is Peyton Lazarz.
