Samuel Reed b. 1760-1770 Delaware, Maryland or England from children's Census Records. Occupation was a pig farmer. Not a sea faring man from Connecticut with same name and appromate age.

Death Record for son James Reed in 1875 says father Samuel Reed born in Delaware,
mother Jane Reed born in Delaware.
Samuel Reed listed 1810 Federal Census, Scott Co., KY. Census taker wrote his name as Keed but you can see on census it is definately REED.

Samuel Reed had a worn and primative head tombstone and foot stone placed on his grave when he died 31 Dec 1846 Scott Co., KY when he was buried in son Ebenezer Reed Family Cemetery on Lot #1, that Ebenezer Reed received from his father's Land Division after Samuel's death. Burial had to be Samuel Reed because of the distance between the head and foot stones definately a mature male.
His wife's Jane (maiden name unknown NOT surname GANT) born 1770-1780 Delaware and died 1 November 1849 from the Ebenezer "Eben" Reed Family Bible.

There was a Marriage Record for Samuel Reed to a Jane Gant much younger couple married 7 April 1823 in Warren Co., KY. This is NOT our Samuel Reed and Jane Reed or his son Samuel Read Jr. that died in Orland, Glenn Co., California.

Scott County, KY Court, Will Book K, pg 37, 70 Ac, 32 poles of 24 March 1847 was the Land Division for Samuel Reed deceased, amongst his widow and children. 24 Mar 1847 proceeded with Joseph Ewing to discharge duty as commissioner.
